About Stead & Co

Grown at the grassroots.

Stead & Co was built around a simple idea: Good growing knowledge should be practical, accessible and grounded in the real world.

Why I do this

Why I do this

I want to help people reconnect to the natural world — to walk out their back door and enjoy the fruits of their own labour. I studied a Bachelor of Applied Science at Massey University and have worked across the dairy, beef and sheep sectors on sustainability: soil mapping, riparian planting, wetland restoration, and planting marginal hill country in forestry. I’ve worked in the organic industry with a focus on Demeter certification, gained self-taught permaculture experience on a lifestyle block, and learned the rest at the grassroots — on real farms, hands in the dirt. Anyone can grow their own food. It just starts with a seed, soil and a passion for knowing where your food comes from.

What guides the work

Practical, patient, and rooted in the real world.

Reconnection

Bringing people back to where their food comes from — and the quiet satisfaction of growing it.

Self-sufficiency

Real skills that make you less dependent and more capable, season after season.

Regenerative care

Working with the soil and the land, not against it — for a block that gets healthier over time.

Let’s grow something together.
